An Encounter of Young Artists

National Youth Ballet and National Youth Orchestra on tour through Germany
Two young top ensembles together to conquer the stages of Germany. The National Youth Orchestra and the eight dancers of the National Youth Ballet dissolve the boundary between stage and orchestra pit. Three premieres of new ballets by John Neumeier, Wubkje Kuindersma and Marc Jubete and Sasha Riva will be presented. Neumeier's creation of Haydn's "Alleluia"-Symphony is his 151st ballet and the conclusion of an extraordinary evening.

After the orchestral prelude of the National Youth Orchestra with Bernd Alois Zimmermann's "Alagoana - Caprichos Brasilieros" the National Youth Ballet is dancing to Paul Dukas' "Sorcerer's Apprentice" with a choreography by Wubkje Kuindersma. Marc Jubete and Sasha Riva have choreographed to James MacMillan's "Exsultet".

The joint tour leads the two young ensembles through the most important concert halls and opera houses of Germany. Beginning on Easter Sunday, the 20th April , at the Festspielhaus Baden –Baden, going to the philharmonics in Essen (April 21st), Cologne (April 25th) and Berlin (May 4th) as well as the Hamburg State Opera (May 2nd).

An Encounter of Young Artists

We are very pleased to present you with our Trailer about the debut of the second generation National Youth Ballet. This film, shot by Vincent Klueger, depicts the course of this exiting day. Starting with training in the morning, going on to the general rehearsal and ending with the applause after the premier in the Ernst Deutsch Theatre – a look behind the curtains of this company. We hope you enjoy this as much as we do.

Second Round

The time has come: eight new dancers have arrived in Hamburg to form the second generation of the National Youth Ballet. Straightaway, there are daily rehearsals, choreographies and plans to be made. There are new places, new pieces and new faces. To do right by them and to keep this website up to date, there are some changes to be made.

In the meantime, the calendar is updated daily and can therefore be explored from now on.

Seasons 11/12 & 12/13 – The Book

This book will be released on September 25, 2013!

John Neumeier's BUNDESJUGENBALLETT has been dancing through Germany and the rest of the world since 2011. They've danced on stage, as well as, and most importantly off stage, introducing interesting locations and sceneries to a theatrical aspect. There have been performances for those who love dance but also for those, who have previously not been introduced to dance.

Together with this year's season and its new company, we are launching sales to these 156 pages, giving testimonial to this company's young and dynamic work. The book (in German) presents all projects, ballets and choreographers in form of text and illustration.

"…this company's soul is growing every day with its tasks, the tasks and tours. Their creativity is constantly developing."
John Neumeier, Artistic Director

The book (in German) is available in our Online Shop, also on sale at our performance venues
